Dear Scouting
Family,
Our hearts go
out to everyone who has been devastated by the disaster of Hurricane
Katrina. We know that the
recovery from this destruction will take years. The effects will be
felt by every person in every community in America. The Great
Smoky Mountain Council would
like to provide you information on how you and your family can help the
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
“A Scout Is
Helpful!”
The council has
partnered with Food City Stores, WBIR, WIVK and
Davis-Newman-Payne Marketing to present the “TENN Days of Relief”
effort. For three days, September 3-5,
2005, there will be tractor trailers at four Knoxville locations to
receive donations of water, food and hygiene supplies. The locations are
West Town Mall, Food City Store Locations at
Powell, Fountain City and Chapman Highway. The
times are Saturday/Sunday/Monday 8am-8pm. They need four helpers per
each two-hour shift to help load the trucks with donations that are
being dropped off by the community.
Please respond immediately
to Jean at Davis-Newman-Payne to sign up your Pack/Troop/Crew or family
to work a two-hour shift. You may contact her at
jmuether@dnp.com or 688-3151.
