[Toqua OA Chapter] adviser's message

toqua arrowmen -
 
remember the chapter gathering on thursday, august 21st at concord united  
methodist church, 11020 roane drive in farragut.  meeting starts at 7:00  pm.  
this is not a business meeting so the field uniform is not required,  but the 
field uniform or an activity uniform is never out of place.
 
we had a good chapter meeting last week.  there were 33  members present. 
committee reports were heard, and there was reflection on  the good, bad, and 
ugly of the ordeal at camp pellissippi.  it was  basically good - we built two 
circles out of nothing and performed two  ceremonies for large groups.  the 
entire lodge had a positive attitude, and  the whole week-end went well.
 
thomas shelton volunteered to be our new service chairman, and mr.  nachtrab 
of troop 141 will be our contact person with concord um  church.  be expecting 
to do some service for the church soon - it has  been our home for a long 
time.  remember - we are the brotherhood of  cheerful service.   
 
the district highlights meeting happens thursday, also, and i feel  compelled 
to attend.  i want to urge unit leaders to consider order of  the arrow 
activities when their units plan their activities for the next  year.  an 
arrowman's first obligation is to his unit (this is an o. a.  tradition, and not 
something the troops came up with), but it surely would be  good if  units stayed 
away from o. a. dates and we didn't have to make the  choice.
 
i'm sure joseph will have a good meeting planned.  let's be prepared  for 
fall fellowship September 5-7 at camp buck toms.  the registration form  is on

.  be  thinking about our lodge and chapter officers which will be elected 
there.
