Toqua Chapter OA welcomes you to our order. A new task lies before you.
"He who serves his fellow is of all his fellows greatest!"
We have an active chapter and want you to be part of it. Remember the mighty chief Allowat Sakima saying ... membership in our order is given, not only for what you have done but for what you are expected to do in the future...
We met every Thursday at Concord United Methodist Church at 11020 Roane Street, Farragut, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. There are many activities you can partake including ceremonies, drumming, singing, dancing, regalia making, fellowship, special games, and many more.
Coming up are these other activities that you would want to attend:
July 17 - Cookout at the Cove (Northshore Drive) - Hamburger and hot dogs and other activates
July 21-22 - Kwahadi Dancers - 1st United Methodist Church of Farragut - Kingston pike - 1/2 mile East of Watts road. They are a Venture Crew from Texas and we have been asked to cook for them and help them with their gear and stay overnight with them.
August 8-10 - Ordeal at Camp Pellissippi. NO, you won't be going through the ordeal again unless you volunteer to be an Elongamat. Great food and fellowship.
September 5-7 - Fall fellowship at Buck Tom. More fun and fellowship and great food.
Nov 15 - Webelos campout at Sequoyah Museum at Vonore. The OA have been ask to teach the Webelos and led them in events.
Dec 6 - Native American Seminar. Good time to learn about the Native American culture through classes all day. You will participate in a PowWow Sat evening.
2nd Thursday each month starting in August - Your business meeting with all OA reprehensive from each troop should attend. Everyone else is welcome also.
And next year, there will be Blue and Gold Crossover ceremonies, Drum and dance performances, Unit elections (remember who came to your troop meeting so you can be elected?), OA banquet, Spring fellowship, Conclave, Call out at camporee, or more. see http://pellissippilodge.org/events.htm
We still have meeting during the summer even though most of the active members are on summer camp staff. Come and let us meet you and prepare to have fun.
