[Toqua OA Chapter] chapter business meeting, etc.

toqua arrowmen -
 
i sent a message Sunday afternoon about fall fellowship and this meeting  and 
other things.  i'm not at all sure that it was distributed, so  here is 
another.  let's treat this as a test also - reply to me, the  sender, and not to 
the whole system.
 
there is an lld (lodge leadership development) conference at camp buck toms  
on November 3rd, a saturday.  the purpose is to train lodge and chapter  
officers in their jobs, but it is a good thing for all members.  on this  date the 
brotherhood ceremony which was not possible at camp pellissippi  this past 
week-end because of the fire ban will be done.  it was announced  at the lec 
meeting yesterday that taking brotherhood is not an automatic  thing as soon as 
the 10-month restriction is met - candidates must be  approved by their chapter 
chief or chapter adviser, based  on activities.  i expect a new form will be 
forthcoming.
 
we have an opportunity to help echota chapter with their second harvest  food 
distribution project on October 13.  i understand that troop 17 is  also 
doing one of these soon.  let's use these for training for  doing our own project 
soon.   this is something we can well  afford.
 
be ready to volunteer for committee positions, which is where the real work  
of the chapter should be done.  each committee needs a chair, but also  needs 
willing workers.  everybody in oa should have a job.
 
remember our commitment to do drumming and dancing at the canoe derby  next 
Saturday evening at camp pellissippi.  we need to make final plans for  
transportation and for getting our equipment to camp.
