Venture/Varsity Challenge
"The
Tooth"
The Varsity Camporee is limited to registered Varsity Teams, Venture Crews,
and Explorer Posts. This time Varsity Scouts will not be competing against
Boy Scouts for the Tower Award and Scout Spirit award. The Varsity Camporee
events and camporee schedule will entirely be different than the Boy Scout
Camporee. Yes, it will be held at the same location and on the same dates,
but everything except participation in the Saturday Evening camp fire and
Sunday morning worship services and awards ceremony, will be separated from
the Boy Scout Camporee. A separate First place traveling award has been
established for the Varsity Camporee and a Spirit Award will be given to
the Crew who has the most Varsity Scout Spirit. Everything, a Crew does or
does not do will be considered as part of the Spirit Award. Guidelines for
the Spirit Award will be the Scout Oath, and Scout law. From this day forward
the Varsity Challenge first place Award will be known as simply "The Tooth",
it is a symbol that stands for the determination , steadfastness and rock
hard foundation that Scouting has given to the young men of the Varsity Program.
"The Tooth" traveling award was first given out at the Toqua Varsity Spring
Camporee held in conjunction with the Toqua Spring Camporee on May 2,3,4 1997.
Late 1998, Varsity program was restructured. Although, the specific award was
retired, the "Venture Challenge" weekends continue each year competing to win
the challenge.
Further Information is currently stored at the
Venture 444 Web
pages as provided by David
L. Shuter, Venture 16 Coach.
As of this date, the award has been discontinued indefinitely.
